18th Birthday

It makes me so happy to now be able to say that I am 18 years old. The big 1-8. Finally! It was a long and tedious wait to turn 18 as there were so many events that I had to miss out on, simply because you can't get into a club or buy drinks without being 18. Since my friends went out and did this a fair amount, I had no choice but to stay at home and sadly flick through the photos of their antics, wishing that I could have been there.

My 18th birthday didn't really start off like any other typical 18th birthday, simply due to the fact that it was also A Level results day (aka the most emotional and nerve-wracking day of every student's school career). It definitely wasn't the best feeling waking up on my 18th birthday feeling like I was about to vom from the anticipation of not knowing my fate. The wait between waking up at 6:30am and 8am when UCAS Track went live was certainly painful and felt like it dragged for hours on end. Luckily, to my delight, I had done it. I got into my first choice university. Yay - I am now officially a Media student! Even though I had got in, not all of my friends got into their first choice uni and it was heartbreaking to see their dreams being taken away from them so easily, so I did have a little cry. Also, receiving my results made the prospect of everyone going their separate ways ten times more real than before and it hit me like a ton of bricks.

Despite having a dramatic and emotional morning, I had a pretty relaxing day and received some lovely presents from my friends and family, and some of these are shown in the images above. My main present I received in the morning from my family, which is what I am writing this blog post on at this current moment, is my beautiful new MacBook Pro. It is literally STUNNING, and it will be absolutely perfect for when I start uni in September. Later in the day, my boyfriend came round before the rest of my friends were due in the evening for predrinks and what was an amazing night out in town. I was so grateful and overwhelmed with the present I received from him; he bought me a beautiful woven leather bracelet from Pandora with an 18th birthday charm on it. I've worn it everyday since my birthday because I just love it so much. Some of my other lovely presents include Daisy Dream by Marc Jacobs perfume, River Island & Topshop vouchers, jewellery, photo frames filled with lots of special photos and A LOT of alcohol (an 18th birthday tradition).

I celebrated in the evening with all of my closest friends, firstly at my house and then straight to town afterwards for the big A Level results night event, and this meant that pretty much every student in my area was out that night. The words jam-packed and sweaty describe the atmosphere in the club pretty well, however that's all part of the fun and I had an amazing night. Walking into the club was such a surreal moment (as lame as it sounds) but I had waited so long to turn 18 and to go out to town with my friends, and it hit me that now I finally could.

I certainly had an 18th birthday to remember, and I feel extremely lucky to have been able to spend it with my best friends and amazing boyfriend, and to have received such lovely and thoughtful presents.

How did you/do you want to spend your 18th birthday? Did you receive your A Level results too? Let me know in the comments below, I'd love to hear all about it.
