A Brand I Want To Try More Of: Essie

I'm always up for trying new brands, but there are of course still brands out there that I haven't invested into as much as others. In the case of Essie, the question is why the heck haven't I bought more of their products before? I don't really know the answer to that one to be perfectly honest with you. However after falling in love with their nail polishes after the addition of the shade Go Ginza, pictured left, to my very small collection (by very small collection I mean I currently only own one other of their nail polishes), I definitely want to branch out and try more of their shades. If you were curious, the other Essie polish I own, pictured right, is Master Plan.

Essie nail polishes are unlike any nail polish I've tried before. Applying them is beyond easy and mess free - the polishes glide on like an absolute dream. This is probably down to the width of the brush and the tapered bristles which allow you to get an even and precise application in just one slick. I'm always the girl that gets nail polish all over her hands and stuck in my cuticles, however with Essie this problem seems to disappear.

Another bonus is that you only need around two coats to get an opaque finish, well at least with the two shades I've tried anyway, however the shades I've tried are neutral tones, so who knows you may be able to get an opaque application in one coat with a more vibrant shade - I'll have to try it out and let you know! Even so, I think two coats to get an opaque finish is still pretty darn good if you ask me.

Finally, if you've been struggling with nail polishes from other brands that seem to chip within the space of a day, then Essie will solve all of your problems. For instance, I applied Go Ginza on the Monday of last week before travelling to see my boyfriend until the Sunday. I didn't take the nail polish with me so I couldn't touch it up, but that didn't matter because I really didn't need to. I don't know what is in the Essie polishes, but they seem to be pretty much chip proof. Of course after wearing one for over a week they will wear down, however my nails stayed pretty much perfect for my entire week away. Isn't that just every girls nail polish dream?!

So, there you have it. Essie nail polishes are definitely a winner in my eyes, and there is no doubt that I will be picking up some more shades from their line.

What do you think of Essie nail polishes? What brands do you want to try more of?

  1. Master plan looks gorgeous, sounds great at the fact that it's long lasting and doesn't chip as easily as ever other polish on the market!

  7. I have been wanting to Essie polishes for the longest time! Though being unemployed with a lack of money, mean's it's virtually impossible to pay the price tag. So instead, I'm saving up boots points until I can get one haha. These shades look so pretty though x

  9. I've been using Essie for years. Pretty much since I was a preteen. I love their polishes. I live on a farm so my nails are constantly getting chipped and dirty. Essie does hold up very well. They also have an anti chip top coat called "No Chips Ahead" if you want the extra protection. My favorite color right now is Bahama Mama. :) Kiersten @ Autumn Country Girl

  10. I absolutely love Essie! It's my favourite nail polish brand for all the reasons you mentioned - super easy application (I'm unable to get such effect with any other polish) and they don't chip very fast. And the range of colours is so wide. I currently own 3 shades: Eternal Optimist, which is a kind of natural, muted pink, Cocktail Bling - a very sophisticated shade of grey and my favourite one - Wicked! It's like red and black mixed together, I love it especially in colder months. But I feel so tempted now to try the cute pink shade you presented here, especially that you said it has an opaque finish - and this is exactly what I'm looking for!
