The Cracking Christmas Tag

This year, I’m really trying to embrace the festive spirit on my socials, so I thought I’d have a go at becc4‘s and Nina Louise‘s ‘Cracking Christmas Tag’. This tag is a really fun one, so thank you to Becca and Nina for creating this one! For anyone who wants to have a go, I tag you all! But specifically, I tag some of my favourite blogging gals (who I don’t think have been tagged to do this yet): Lauren, Esther, Char and Faye! I’d love to hear your answers. And make sure you tag Becca and Nina too so they can see!

Weirdest family Christmas tradition?

I’m not sure how weird this is, because I’m not sure how many people have heard of it, but our family always play something what we call ‘the chocolate game’. Everyone stands in a circle and passes a dice around. When someone rolls a six, they shout SIX, pass the dice on and quickly puts on a hat, scarf and gloves, then attempts to cut up a chocolate bar and eat it using only a knife and fork. Whilst they do this, the dice is still being passed around, so you could put one glove on and someone else has to put on the outfit and start cutting the chocolate because they’ve rolled a six. It ends up being so loud and hilarious. God knows who invented the game, but my Mum said they would always play it even before me, my brother and my cousins were born.

It’s Christmas Eve, what are you doing?

Well this year I’ll actually be at work for some of Christmas Eve lollll. #RetailLife. However I usually spend it cosying up on the sofa, watching Christmas films or Christmas TV and eating Quality Street. Never would I ever go out on Christmas Eve night. Being hungover is bad enough, but on Christmas Day? Ew no.

Top 3 Christmas dinner components?

  1. Pigs in blankets.
  2. The meat?! We actually have goose on Christmas Day rather than turkey (soz to the turkey lovers) and it’s really yummy!
  3. Gotta love the roast potatoes.

(I also love stuffing and can’t have my roast dinner without it swimming in gravy… lol I failed at the whole ‘top 3’ thang).

When do you decorate your house? November, the beginning of December, the week of Christmas?

Usually around the second week of December. My Mum’s ultimate pet peeve is people putting up their Christmas trees in November (soz to anyone offended ahaha). This year we put it up on 8th December and I think that’s pretty good for us!

Loved and loathed Christmas songs?

One of my faves has to be ‘Last Christmas’ by Wham! Also might be an unpopular opinion but I’m not really that keen on Fairytale of New York by The Pogues, I just find it quite slow… hahaha. Tbh I hear all of the classic Christmas tunes on repeat at work so they’re all driving me a bit mad atm, hahaha! Especially when the CD player breaks and plays the same song three times in a row…

One big present or lots of little things to open?

Most Christmas’ I get lots of little things. I just find it more fun to open and usually I don’t have a really big or expensive present in mind that would suit the ‘one big present’ option. Maybe I’ll put a new blogging camera on my wish list next year though, who knows!

What is your favourite Christmas decoration? (Include a photo if you have one).

The Cracking Christmas Tag

Well since I recently bought and decorated my very own mini Christmas tree in my bedroom (pictured in this post), I think that has to be my fave. It just looks so festive! I can’t believe I didn’t do it in previous years. Also, it’s not really a decoration, but my Mum bought a ‘dachshund through the snow’ front door mat and it’s so cute!

Do you like to have a themed tree or one with a bit of everything?

I’d say a themed one because they can end up looking so creative and pretty. Our family tree currently has a red and silver theme; I think it’s quite unique as a lot of people go for red and gold, which I do really love as well. The tree in my room has a mixture of rose gold, light pink and gold and I’m obsessed with it.

Christmas pudding: yay or nay?

Definitely nay, it’s too fruity for me. I often go for chocolate yule log. Microwaved so the icing goes all gooey is just heaven!

What’s at the top of your Christmas wishlist this year?

There’s not one thing in particular that I really really wanted this year. I’ve chosen a few bits that I’d like to receive, but there’s not one present that I can’t wait to open more than others. I’m excited to try some new makeup bits that I’ve asked for, as well as wear my new white trainers which I picked out! That’s the boring part about getting older, I end up choosing the majority of my presents and my family just wraps them up hahaha. It is fun on Christmas Day though, because I do tend to forget some of the things I’ve picked out.
