Prom is the perfect occasion to glam up your makeup look, plus giving you the chance to dress up and feel fabulous for an entire evening. Two weeks ago, I had my Year 13 Leavers Prom and it was such a lovely evening spent with my boyfriend and all my closest friends to celebrate finishing our A Levels. I had a rough idea of the type of makeup look I wanted to create, and the finished look ended up being exactly what I had hoped for. It consists of a champagne and gold eye with some smoky browns and a classic nude lip. Since I really loved the my prom makeup look, I thought I would recreate it for you to try out, as I think this look would be great to wear for a night out or special occasion.
For my base, I used the Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation in Light Nude (which is a shade darker than I would usually go for however I did have a spray tan), and then concealed any blemishes and brightened under my eyes with the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in Fair. I then set this with the Seventeen Miracle Matte Pressed Powder in Natural Fair to make sure my foundation wouldn’t budge throughout the evening. To bronze and contour my face, I used Ted Baker Bronzing Pearls in the hollows of my cheeks and on my temples, and then highlighted and added a pop of colour to the tops of my cheeks with the Revlon Highlighting Palette in Rose Glow.
For my eyes, I applied the Urban Decay Primer Potion to ensure my eyeshadow would be much more long-lasting. I then went on to use some of the eyeshadows from the Urban Decay Naked Palette in order to create the main eyeshadow look. Firstly, I used the shade Sin, a shimmery pink toned shade, all over the lid and then applied the shade Sidecar, a glittery light brown, on top and then softly blended the edges. I then applied the shade Half Baked, a shimmery gold, in the centre of the lid, before blending both shades Naked, a matte beige, and Smog, a smoky brown, into the crease. I then applied Darkhorse, a deep brown, to the outer corners. Next, I applied the Maybelline Eye Studio Gel Liner to both eyes, creating a smooth line to define my eyes and glam up the look. To define my eyelashes, I applied the Benefit Roller Lash Mascara, and I then lightly filled in my brows with a Rimmel Eye Pencil in Panama.
For my lips, I wanted to keep them relatively simple as I had a lot going on in terms of my eye makeup, and plus I love wearing a nude lip anyway. I lined and filled in my lips with the No7 Precision Lips Pencil in Nude and then went over this with Seventeen Supreme Shine Lipstick in Bella, which is a nude shade with a gorgeous shiny and moisturising formula.
