For ages I’ve used Rimmel’s Match Perfection foundation, and loved it. I’d finished another bottle of it, so took myself into Superdrug last week to replace it. However, the shade I use was completely sold out. I couldn’t go without a foundation, so I decided to take the plunge and try another foundation from Rimmel instead, which is their Lasting Finish 25 Hour foundation. I’d read good things online about this in the blogging world, plus one of my best friends said she uses it and loves it, so I thought why not try it? I have now discovered, even after only using it for about a week, that I also love it too.
This bottle is pretty much the same as Match Perfection’s bottle, however Lasting Finish is red and Match Perfection is blue. I love the fact this foundation has a pump, as it keeps things mess free. This is actually a really good pump and pumps out a good amount of product. Are there such things as good and bad foundation pumps? Personally, I think this one is pretty great.
In terms of staying power, this foundation does a fine job. Sometimes I like to touch it up with a bit of powder if I’m heading back out to uni or something later in the day, but other than that it’s pretty good, especially compared to other foundations I’ve tried that slip and slide all over my face. I wouldn’t go quite as far as saying that it lasts 25 hours – not that I would really know, as I don’t ever wear foundation for 25 hours anyway…haha!
This foundation feels very similar to the Match Perfection foundation, however is slightly less dewy and feels a little more matte on the skin. I wouldn’t say it’s a completely matte finish; it looks natural on the skin and is definitely very buildable, despite being a full coverage foundation. But, this is something I like about this foundation, as I can’t stand it when a foundation looks too cakey. With this, you can build it up to a full coverage slowly and naturally, which is so much better. It’s also very easy to apply and blends beautifully, so there’s no patchiness in sight.
There is something called ‘comfort serum’ in this foundation. I’m not 100% sure what this exactly is or what it means, but I’m presuming it means that it’s supposed to feel very comfortable on the skin – self explanatory really, isn’t it Hannah? Haha. But if that is its purpose, then it obviously works because this foundation sits beautifully and very comfortably on the skin. So comfortable that I can barely even feel it once its applied, result.
Overall, I really like this foundation, and will definitely be repurchasing it when it runs out. I also think I’ve found my favourite foundation brand. Rimmel just never fail to do a good job! Plus at £7.99 for such a good quality foundation, it’s a steal.
Have you tried the Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 Hour foundation? What’s your favourite foundation at the moment?
